Frequently Asked Questions
Fascia, in construction terms, is a long board made of steel, aluminium, timber, PVC, or another material. It runs along the lowest vertical edge of a roof, where the roof meets the building’s exterior walls and directly behind the gutter. (The horizontal surface adjacent to and under the fascia is called the soffit.)
When combined with the soffit, the fascia encloses the eaves of the roof. This provides a protective shield and maintains the roof’s structural integrity, protecting the interior trusses, rafters, and cavity from rainwater. It also helps to block entry points for birds, possums, bats, insects, and other critters that may otherwise take up residence in the roof. Fascia also helps secure the guttering system, and is an important design element that contributes to the building’s style and aesthetic.
The high-quality fascia products we offer at Roofmart can last for up to (or longer than) 30 years. COLORBOND® and ZINCALUME® steels are arguably the best fascia materials in Australia for their style, versatility, durability, low-maintenance requirements, and resistance to corrosion, weather, and rotting. These products are impervious to termites and other pests and are non-combustible.
ZINCALUME® corrugated roofing comes in a standard grey colour; this sheeting can be painted. COLORBOND® corrugated roofing is available in 22 steel core classic and contemporary colours. There are also 6 colours available in a premium matt finish.
