Frequently Asked Questions
Corrugated roofing offers a classic, stylish aesthetic to any rooftop and delivers in terms of strength, durability, ease of installation, and low maintenance. It is a sustainable, energy-efficient system that helps maintain a comfortable temperature indoors, and it facilitates rapid water runoff and drainage.
Corrugated roofing can last up to 70 years. When made from premium COLORBOND®, your roof will typically last between 40 and 70 years; ZINCALUME® can last from 30-40 years or, under ideal conditions, up to 60 years.
COLORBOND® Steel is backed by the Bluescope Steel Warranty for 15 to 36 years. Exact coverage varies by location, product type and other factors. See here for more information.
ZINCALUME® steel is silver-coloured, and features a protective aluminium-zinc-silicon alloy coating. It can be painted.
COLORBOND® is pre-painted ZINCALUME® available in a wide array of colours.
Most standard corrugated roofing requires a minimum pitch of 5 degrees; this ensures proper drainage and helps prevent leakage and ingress at the seams. Trimclad® roof sheeting, however, allows for a minimum pitch of just 2 degrees.
You’ll need to calculate your roof’s total area (via measurement – tip: sketch the roof, break it into smaller sections, measure and add these up), determine the area of each of your chosen roofing sheets, and divide the entire roof area by the area of a single sheet. Round up and add a 10% allowance for overlap/wastage/error.
ZINCALUME® corrugated roofing comes in a standard grey colour; this sheeting can be painted. COLORBOND® corrugated roofing is available in 22 steel core classic and contemporary colours. There are also 6 colours available in a premium matt finish.
